The ISV committee met remotely 26th April 2022.

Pip Hodson and Leanne James are joining the ISV committee

Adriana Felsztynski is the EV Sport Administrator with some interschool responsibility. Thank you toEmilie Van Sonsbeek who assisted through to State Championships

State Championships Feedback

  • Generally positive. The Organising Committee will have a follow up feedback meeting. Feedback Survey to be sent to out from EV office to plan for 2023
  • State championships 2023 Dates Saturday 15th – Wednesday 19th April
  • Order of events discussed.
  • Notable feedback: Concern over lack of understanding of rules, the scheduling of dressage with split days and use of waxed arenas for maximum benefit.
  • Dressage rules were applied by judges and supported by the Dressage TD causing the elimination of several riders.  Discipline rules are used but they cannot be followed totally at Interschool. Should ISV look at Assistance to interschool riders be allowed in the interests of safety?

New FEI/EA rule of two classes in a day will need to be considered when scheduling. This may create problems and affect those riders who cross disciplines which is part of the foundation of interschool riders being all-rounders.

Provisional Interschool Team is drafted. Team Manager Victorian Team will be advertised by EV. Uniform carry over items are being considered as part of uniform planning.

Team Training July. Usually over 100 riders with 132 team positions. Ways of contributing to the cost and making it a great weekend sought- team sponsorship.

Cost of entry and uniform and travel etc. is parental.

Communication raising separate concerns from a photographer and a parent

EV is currently updating the Media Policy and addressing this matter

The EA Child Safe Guarding policy must be considered in any review
All photographers are accredited through EV and have up to date background checks.
Organisers need to have the right to control who attends and photographs at their events. This may involve sponsorship agreements offering sole photography rights and to remove persons they deem not be following the requirements of EA/EV policies or their event. Organisers must communicate any children who are not permitted to be photographed to the engaged photographers.

Fiona Jones from Vicsport has attended competitions to collect information and see where assistance is needed. She has submitted an outline and initial plan to the EV Board. This aims to offer support to clubs etc. in being able to understand the new Child Safe Guarding and implementation at events.

New EA Participation Manager Jill Taylor. WWCC Compliance standards and assistance discussed. Request to have a meeting with all states and update Interschool rules etc. Also assistance with Child Safe Guarding Policy for all events with riders under 18.

VEIS has most documentation in place for their series. Website update coming.

Elmore Interschool will not run this year in the same format but hope to have something for regional riders to gain participation.

Some schools are still restricting riders and this is disappointing for them.

National Interschool Rule update needed. Committee to look at areas for improvement and change for the National Handbook to take to EA.

Next meeting 21st June
