ISV Summary of Business Report – October 2022

ISV Meeting Held Wednesday 19th October

Actioned

  • Communication to State Championships age- there will be no ride-offs at the 2023 competition.
  • EA National Interschool meeting attended

Child Safe

New EV staff member Eliza Harvey coordinating compliance and risk. Child Safe communications from the office to assist clubs and organisers. WWCC details are required by all committee members and are kept on record by EV office.

Exemptions

Discussion about inclusion at events and any exemptions procedure. Interschool currently use dressage exemptions and apply this to show horse classes. Potential for EA to create an EA Inclusion Policy or a more centralised position on inclusivity and the granting of exemptions

Jumping

EV Jumping chair communicated concerns over unsafe riding at interschool events in speed classes, to ISV.  Committee discussed the nature of show jumping. Junior riders are also fast in open competitions. Optimum time does not have an article number if used at lower heights.  Gain further clarification from jumping committee.

Nationals

VIC team was great and gained many good results. Lots of issues with the scoring and general event organisation. A number of Team Vic members left early, some with exemptions. Very strict national rule applied in regard to no prizes etc. if not in attendance.

Push for online scoring mandatory at National Championships after the issues this year. Will take to National Interschool Committee

Nationals – Uniform

Feedback from team at nationals about new ideas for uniforms. Aim is to have a more cohesive branding/logo for next year. Keeping some uniform items will not work. Saddle pads can be carried over. Design in two sizes for dressage and jumping with approved EV embroidered logo.

Information Handbook that will be available to riders on joining the State team to ensure understanding and commitment.

Events

  • VEIS confirmed Dressage round – Girton Dressage Day Friday 10th March 2023.
  • ISV Committee decided not to run an Interschool ring at the EV Summer Show.

Australian Championship decisions

  • Super Two Phase Jumping has been mandated.
  • 2* Combined Training has been added.
  • Eventing and Combined Training will be run as National events, not FEI. National tests to be used instead of FEI tests.
  • Addition of Intermediate Class (Year 7-9) for 90cm SJ, 100cm SJ, and Show Horse classes. State Champs will include an Intermediate Class (Year 7-9) for 75cm SJ as well.

ISV State Championships

EV will hire a professional event director for the 2023 ISV State Interschool Championships.  State Championship Committee to be formed ASAP.

Discussion about whether to remove the participation element for the State Champs. Communicate participation requirement clearly-until end of March, priority entry those gaining this, wait list others, providing an exemption application process to ISV Committee for the extreme cases/circumstances.

Draft timetable for 2023 State Champs was circulated to committee. Unlikely to run Freestyles due to the EADC 2 test limit for Dressage. Need to block entry into too many events through Event Secretary when timetable is confirmed.

Nan McArthur Award has a current bias towards dressage riders. Option discussed a requirement to do 2 disciplines to be eligible for the award, and only taking a maximum of 3 scores per discipline. Potentially 3 dressage 3 jumping 3 show horse and one other result or best four scores including 2 or more disciplines. TBC next meeting

Scratching Policy

Looking at common scratching policy as guideline for event organisers in line with other disciplines.

  • Scratching before entries close, a full refund minus the administration fee
  • Scratchings after entries close accompanied with a medial or veterinary certificate and would result in a 50% refund minus administration fee
  • Scratchings once event has commenced would result in no refunds.

TBC
